KNS, Reading and Speaking

The basic civic integration exam abroad consists of KNS, Reading and Speaking. It is often called the A1 or MVV exam. That does not make it an MVV application: the exam may be a requirement before applying, depending on your circumstances.

What happens in each part?

Official KNS has 30 questions in 30 minutes, with photographs, slowly spoken questions and two answer choices. Reading has 19 questions in 35 minutes. Speaking has 22 tasks in 30 minutes: ten questions and twelve sentences to complete. There is no separate Listening part.

Prepare for the right exam

Check your requirements with the IND and use Naar Nederland for official preparation. Inburgify currently offers A1 KNS only. Reading and Speaking are in development. The five free questions introduce our approach; they are not a full exam or a prediction of your result.
